Commissioner Staples' historic trip to Cuba a big success
Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples returned from a historic trade mission to Cuba with two contracts signed, more sales under negotiations, new partnerships developed and the confidence the contacts made on this trip will pay off with big dividends down the road. more

TSCRA follows up prescribed burn testimony with letter to Sunset Advisory Commission chairman
As reported previously in the April 22 issue of TSCRA News Update, TSCRA Director Bill White testified before the Sunset Advisory Commission at the State Capitol in Austin. White's testimony dealt with the Commission's review of the Prescribed Burning Board, under the jurisdiction of Texas Department of Agriculture. As a follow-up to White's testimony, TSCRA President Jon Means, Van Horn, has drafted a letter to The Honorable Carl Isett, chairman of the Sunset Advisory Commission, reaffirming TSCRA's support of the Prescribed Burning Board. more

Texas Farm Bureau releases eminent domain survey findings
After hearing from more than 1,000 city and county officials from more than 170 counties, Texas Farm Bureau is finding an overwhelming support among local elected officials for the eminent domain reforms granted in HB 2006 in the 80^th Texas Legislature. more

USDA proposes to adjust user fees for veterinary import and export related services
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) announced June 3 a proposal to adjust the user fees charged for import and export related services provided for animals, animal products, birds, germ plasm, organisms and vectors. This proposed rule is scheduled for publication in the June 4 Federal Register. Consideration will be given to comments received on or before Aug. 4. more
