TSCRA supports RFS waiver communication
TSCRA has been a strong supporter of Governor Rick Perry's petition to the Environmental Protection Agency to reduce the Renewable Fuels Standards (RFS) on ethanol. A new website, "Food Before Fuel,"provides factual information about the impact of corn used in ethanol production on food prices, energy, the environment and world hunger, and is supported by interests in the food retailing, poultry and livestock industries.

domain will highlight TSCRA summer meeting
Attendees of the TSCRA summer meeting to be held at the Hyatt Regency Lost Pines Resort, June 15-17, will hear from top speakers on some of today's hottest topics: ethanol, the Trans-Texas Corridor and eminent domain. TSCRA's summer meeting is one of three annual meetings, along with the annual convention and fall meeting, held throughout Texas and Oklahoma. It is a forum for members to discuss issues important to cattle raisers, set TSCRA policy and legislation and hear from other industry leaders. Meeting attendance by TSCRA members and non-members is encouraged. more

S. Korea president backs away from beef deal with U.S.
With his approval ratings poisoned by mass anxiety about American beef, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak backed away on Tuesday from a wildly unpopular agreement to resume imports of beef from the United States. Lee had personally approved the deal less than two months ago. more

For the week ending May 31, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were down more than $2 per hundredweight compared with the previous week. High feed costs continue to pressure the market. Topsoil moisture remains adequate to short statewide and pasture conditions were rated mostly good to fair. more
