Senate joins House in overriding farm bill veto
The U.S. Senate on Wednesday joined the House of Representatives in overriding the second veto by President George W. Bush of the new U.S. farm bill, a step that enacted a 35-page section dealing with farm-export and food aid programs. more
 

Wyoming ranchers: Brucellosis vaccine is failing
Sublette County, Wyo. ranchers told animal health officials Tuesday evening that vaccine RB51 hasn't lived up to its promises: It appears to provide short-term immunity, but unlike the vaccine Strain 19, RB51's protective effect appears to wear off in a few years -- something not even researchers knew about. more
 

Summer grilling campaign sizzles
Although grilling in Texas is often times a year-round occurrence, the Texas Beef Council (TBC) is firing up its efforts for the summer grilling season. Throughout the campaign, the Texas beef checkoff will reach consumers through radio interviews, promotions, partnerships, events and television cooking segments helping keep beef "king of the grill" all summer long. more
 

River's current needs snag net of state entities
A coalition of state agencies and private citizens are banding together with a mutual interest in conserving one very important resource: the Trinity River Basin. The Trinity Basin Conservation Foundation represents an umbrella effort to bring together all parties involved to aid in stewardship of the river basin. more

TSCRA Young Leadership Series workshop
Plan to attend the first annual TSCRA Young Leadership Series workshop July 8-9 in Austin. It's a great opportunity to learn about becoming a valuable resource for the beef industry and TSCRA! Come to East Texas this fall
The Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association fall meeting will be in Tyler, Sept. 21-23. Come to the eastern part of Texas to see some beautiful countryside, sit in on the TSCRA committee meetings, listen to the industry leaders at the board of directors meeting and participate in the determining the policies of TSCRA.
