U.S., South Korean beef trade talks resume
The United States and South Korea resumed talks Tuesday on a U.S. beef import agreement that has stoked massive protests rocking the new Seoul government. more
 

Brucellosis confirmed in Wyoming cattle herd
The Wyoming State Veterinary Laboratory (WSVL) reported to the state veterinarian Monday that it has cultured Brucella abortus out of tissues from two cows from Daniel, Wyo. This is confirmation from the WSVL that the herd is infected with brucellosis. Official confirmation is pending culture results from the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa. more
 

Workshop to explore wind power development and effects on wildlife
With the Panhandle targeted for increased wind power development, many landowners already have signed or are considering signing contracts with energy companies. But questions remain, especially about wildlife. The Panhandle Wind and Wildlife Conference on Aug. 8-9 at the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo is aimed at answering some of those questions. more
 

Cattle fly control: self-treatment devices
Control of the face fly is difficult because it is generally on the face of the animal, an area difficult to treat, and because it spends little time on the animal. Treatment is generally achieved with self-treatment devices; dust bags, oilers and insecticide-impregnated ear tags. more
 

TDA market recap, 6-16-08
For the week ending June 14, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly $2 to $5 per hundredweight lower under pressure from higher grain prices. Fed cattle prices declined $1 per hundredweight. more

The Texas Young Leadership Series is geared to aid in the development of new leaders 19-40 years old, engage and educate young people on current industry issues, and provides hands-on experience in talking to elected officials and media.
