No early outs to be permitted from CRP – Ed Schafer
Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer has announced on Tuesday afternoon that there will be no "early out" for contract holders of the Conservation Reserve Program- he cited expectations for an adequate corn crop in 2008 and the further expectation that millions of acres may opt out of CRP as those contracts end. more
 

Member gathering held in Canadian
More than 150 people attended the TSCRA member gathering in Canadian, Texas, on Saturday, July 26. All six new members joining the association on-site received a blue "Posted" member sign thanks to Bayer Animal Health. more
 

TPWD finalizes dove, teal seasons
The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) finalized the early season migratory game bird regulations, which includes dove and teal seasons for 2008-09. Texas hunters will see a 16-day September teal season and no changes to the South Dove Zone segments. more
 

Texas crop, weather, 7-30-08
While Hurricane Dolly trashed the Lower Rio Grande Valley cotton crop, it failed to alleviate drought conditions in most of Texas. After ruining 91,000 acres of the Valley's cotton, Dolly brought from 1- 8 inches of rain into the Coastal Bend, 6 - 8 inches in the South, and more than 3 inches in parts of the Panhandle. more
