The objectives of Texas Invasive Plant and Pest Council (TIPPC) are to promote understanding and awareness of invasive plant and pest impacts in Texas; provide a forum for the exchange of scientific, educational and technical information; and support research and restoration activities that reduce impacts of invasive plants and pests in Texas. more
 

APHIS proposed rule on bovine tuberculosis and requirements for indemnity payments
The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) is proposing to amend current regulations regarding the payment of indemnity for animals destroyed because of bovine TB to provide that an approved herd plan must be in place prior to the payment of indemnity, and to provide that 10 percent of the gross indemnity payment be withheld by APHIS until the conditions of an approved herd plan have been implemented. Additionally, APHIS proposes to change existing regulations to deny payments of federal indemnity for a herd whose owner has failed to follow the provisions of an approved herd plan, or has violated the conditions of an approved herd plan. more
 

Wind energy and wildlife seminar scheduled for Aug. 8-9
The Panhandle Wind and Wildlife Conference on Aug. 8-9 in Amarillo is an effort to provide landowners with an impartial view of wind energy development. AgriLife Extension, the Texas Wildlife Association and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department are working together to offer the two-day conference at the Ambassador Hotel in Amarillo.The meeting is aimed at objectively educating landowners and the general public about the many issues associated with wind energy opportunities that should be considered before signing a contract, including the impacts on wildlife. more
