Special Rangers make arrest in cattle, trailer theft

With the help of a team of local authorities, TSCRA Special Rangers Jimmy Belt and Brent Mast arrested Michael David Terry, 41, of Livingston, last week on charges of livestock theft, a third degree felony; trailer theft, a state jail felony; and three counts of cruelty to animals, Class A misdemeanors. more
Voice your opinion on Prevention of Equine Cruelty Act (H.R. 6598)
Unlike the other bills that would just ban the
sale or processing of horses for human consumption, H.R. 6598 would criminally prosecute horse owners for knowingly owning, selling, transporting or possessing a horse with the intent of slaughtering that horse for human consumption. Also, H.R. 6598 requires the U.S. Attorney General to take care of the horses they confiscate – making you, the taxpayer, responsible for paying the horses' feed bill. more

USDA: cropland, pasture land values hit record
Farm real estate values, a measurement of the value of all land and buildings on farms, averaged $2,350 per acre on January 1, 2008, up 8.8 percent from 2007. The $2,350 per acre is a record high and $190 more than a year earlier. Pasture value rose by 6 percent to $1,230 per
