Llano Springs Ranch
shines as conservation beacon amid changing Texas
The 13th Annual Lone Star Land Steward Awards recognize and honor private landowners for their accomplishments in habitat management and wildlife conservation. The program is designed to educate landowners and the public and to encourage participation in habitat conservation. Llano Springs Ranch south of Junction received the Leopold Conservation Award for Texas on May 21. "I'm proud that we've taken a ranch that had been neglected for many years and turned it into something to be proud of, and we've done it ourselves," said Tom M. Vandivier, part of the five-generation farm and ranch family which owns the 5,100-acre spread in Edwards County. more
Membership gathering held in Sanger
Approximately 60 folks attended the TSCRA ranch gathering at the beautiful Texas Sundown Ranch in Sanger, Texas, May 22. Attendees were treated to a brisket dinner and delicious cake for dessert, then speakers gave updates on current events affecting producers. more
TDA Market Recap, 5-27-08
For the week ending May 24, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly steady to $5 per hundredweight higher, except calves under 500 pounds were as much as $5 lower at a few locations. Fed cattle prices also increased. more
