The 2007 farm bill is NOT done yet
The Senate voted, earlier today, 82-13, to override the President's veto on the 2007 farm bill. However, due to a clerical error, Title III of the 2007 farm bill was left out of the versions that was signed by Speaker Pelosi and then vetoed by President Bush. This is the same version that was voted upon yesterday on the House Floor. more
 

Skyrocketing oil prices stump experts
Confused about oil prices? So are the experts. Executives from the giant oil companies say it's partly the fault of "speculators" or financial players. Key financial players say it's really a question of limited supply and expanding global demand. more
 
 

Study discusses farm impact of high crude oil prices
According to a new University of Illinois study, between 2003 and 2007, the majority of corn and soybean production cost increases will be attributed to crude oil price increases. And corn costs in 2008 are expected to be $48 per acre higher than in 2007 and soybean costs are expected to increase by $29 per acre. more
 

Fiscal 2009 Beef Board budget recommended
The Beef Promotion Operating Committee has recommended a $45.8 million Cattlemen's Beef board budget for Fiscal 2009, reflecting a sharp 6.6 percent decrease from the $49 million budget for Fiscal 2008. more
