Farm Bill vetoed
President Bush today vetoed the 2007 Farm Bill. The Conference Committee Report passed both the House and Senate last week with veto-proof margins--318-106 in the House and 81-15 in the Senate. Both chambers are expected to hold veto override votes today.
 

Cattle Raisers celebrate border crossing
TSCRA members were on hand in Laredo today to join the celebration with the Texas Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Agriculture as Texas breeding cattle crossed into Mexico for the first time since 2003. more
 

 

 

Award offered for information in bull killing
The recent death of a bull on a Bandera County ranch has led investigators to consider the possibility that the killing may be related to other poaching cases. Local entity Ranchers and Landowners Association has joined TSCRA by offering a monetary award to anyone with information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved. more
 

Texas Crop, Weather (5-21-08)
Much of Texas received rain the last week, from one-tenth to nearly six inches, reported Texas AgriLife Extension Service agents from across the state. more
 

2008 Texas Ag Forum approaching
Scheduled for Monday, June 9, 2008, in Austin, the program will focus on the food and feed vs. fuel debate. Speakers include university experts, and farm group and biofuels representatives. more
