Gov. Perry seeks relief from skyrocketing food prices
Seeking immediate relief from
skyrocketing food costs, Gov. Rick Perry Friday asked the federal government
for a 50 percent waiver from the federal renewable fuel standard (RFS) mandate
for ethanol produced from grain. "There are multiple factors contributing to our skyrocketing grocery
prices, but a waiver of RFS levels is the best, quickest way to reduce those
costs before permanent damage is done..." more

In response to Governor Perry's request to the U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency for a waiver of a portion of the Renewable Fuel Standard,
TSCRA President Jon Means of Van
Horn stated, "TSCRA supports this waiver request. All segments of the livestock industry have
been severely impacted by the rising costs of feedstuffs and this request, if
granted, would provide some relief..." more
